The R4360 engine was used to power some very large aircraft during the cold war in the 1950s and 60s. The B36 was the largest aircraft that it was used on. Some of the other well known aircraft that it was used on were the Hughes H4 Flying Boat, the Martin AMI Mauler, and the Martin Mars. There is a list of other aircraft it was used on in the book.

The book goes into great detail on the mechanical construction of the engine and all components, including the Sperry in flight engine analyzer, the magnetos and drives, the supercharger and drive, the ignition systems, the torque meter system, the fuel injection and water injection systems, and other systems that effect the operation of the engine.

The book is in PDF format and must be read or printed from Adobe Reader. You can get a free copy of the latest version here. Free Adobe Reader
